The year was 1984. The Democratic party had been out of government for three years and the ‘Reagen revolution’ had begun. A new ideology had swept the globe, in which tax cuts for the wealthy were not only accepted but encouraged –  it was trickle-down.

In what has been described as “One of the best rhetorical performances ever given”, New York governor Mario Cuomo took to the stage and gave us a clear and concise warning that this new economics idea was dangerous.
